Deep Tissue Massage
Omphysio Service
Deep tissue massage is a type of massage where your therapist works on the deep layers of muscle and fascia in the body. It is strongly indicated for optimising postural alignment, remediate chronic aches from stiff neck, back pain, leg muscle tightness and other musculo-skeletal conditions including tension headaches. While the strokes are similar to those used in classic massage therapy, the techniques are slower, deeper and concentrated on the ’knotted’ areas.
How do we help?
Chronic musculo-skeletal conditions often result in adhesions and scar tissue in deeper fascia, muscles and other soft tissues. Through a deep tissue massage, we focus on alleviating the muscle stiffness, facilitating relaxation of the muscles, promoting a better circulation and oxygenation to ensure repair, energize the body systems and ultimately provide pain relief. At Omphysio, our massage therapists are well-trained in physiotherapy and experts in anatomy, physiology, patho-mechanisms and injury rehabilitation. Before we begin the treatment, we establish a thorough understanding of your pain-history, postural requirements and goals to ensure a complete and holistic recovery. The sessions could be up to 30min, 60 min or 90min long based on your requirements and will often require a series of treatments to provide maximum benefit.
What are the precautions I need to take?
Our consultations are aimed at providing the best tailor-made treatment appropriate for your conditions/ injuries. Do let us know if you have any allergies, heart or respiratory problems, seizures, recent surgeries, or are receiving treatment for any other medical condition concurrently. As with any massage, it's a good to avoid big meals and alcohol beforehand. You might experience some tiredness and muscular soreness immediately after and occasionally a delayed soreness lasting up to 4-5 days after a deep tissue massage. Your therapist will guide you through the best ways to reduce the soreness, if any.
